For December 15, 2009: Build a thematic unit by searching the Children's Picture Book Database at Miami University. Choose from three search options. The keyword word search allows the user to select from a list of study areas like math and social studies. An alphabetic search brings up a list of topics in alphabetical order. The Boolean search combines keywords along with additional information such as author and publisher. Results from these searches provide a list of books with an abstract and bibliographic information appropriate for the subject area. This is a great tool for elementary teachers who want to create reading lists to complement the curriculum.
