For November 15, 2009: The Children & Nature Network (C&NN) was created to encourage and support the people and organizations working worldwide to reconnect children with nature. Richard Louv, Chairman of C&NN, inspired this movement through his book, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder. The C&NN website provides news, activities, and links to great resources such as Nature Rocks, Where's Buddy Bison, and Nature Clubs for Families Toolkit. Teachers can sign up to join C&NN's Natural Teacher Network and receive a monthly newsletter.
As a complement, Kids and Nature, a Central Ohio collaboration, affiliated with C&NN, has a blog < http://kidsandnature.org/blog/ > with up-to-date information on activities and resources. One of their members has created a CD with students from the school where she teaches, titled "Nature Needs Kids and Kids Need Nature." She too, was inspired by Richard Louv and put her creative energy into the movement.
