What you get beyond the videos
Generation Genius pairs short lessons with tools to help you teach. You can also check what your child knows. Each topic has its own mix of tools. These may include a plan, new words, questions, reading, a quiz, or a task to try.
I see the appeal in having those pieces close together. You can pick a topic, read the guide, and choose a small amount of follow-up work. There is less need to hunt for a worksheet that uses the same words as the video.
You do not need to use every tool. For one child, a short talk and a drawing may show more than a full worksheet. For another, writing a few answers helps sort out what made sense.
The company's help page describes the service as supplemental. I would use it that way. A list of topics is not the same as a full year of teaching, practice, feedback, and progress checks.
Choose the lesson, not just the grade label
The site groups science and math across kindergarten through eighth grade. Reading and writing lessons run from kindergarten to fifth grade. Start with what your child knows now. The grade on a school form is just a guide.
The kindergarten science collection includes pushes and pulls, weather, and the needs of living things. Those topics give you an easy way to move from a screen to something a child can see.
For a lesson about pushes and pulls, ask a child to move a toy in two ways. Then ask what changed. Keep the question small. You want to hear their own words, not a line learned by heart.
If the language is too easy, use the lesson as a quick recap and move on. If it is too hard, stop and work with one idea. Finishing the video is not the goal.
A simple way to use one lesson
I would build a short session around three parts: a question, the lesson, and a chance to explain. The question gives the child something to notice. Their answer tells you what stuck.
Before you watch, ask what the child thinks will happen. During the video, pause at one useful point. After that, ask them to show or describe the idea in a new setting.
For plants, that might mean looking at two pots near a window. What do the plants need? What could you change? How would you know whether it helped? You do not need a costly science kit to have a useful talk.
Read the activity notes before you start. Get the things you need and check any adult steps first. A ready-made lesson can cut prep time. You still need to check that the task fits your space and child.

The US plans page lists the combined homeschool Science, Math, and ELA plan at $325 a year, and single-subject Science or Math plans at $250 a year. Those were the listed prices on September 9, 2026. Check the current plan and total before paying.
A monthly figure beside an annual price is a way to spread that yearly cost on paper. That does not mean you can pay by the month. Read the billing and renewal terms on the plan you choose.
I would count likely lessons before I sign up. At $325 a year, 40 lessons work out to just over $8 each. At 100 lessons, the cost is $3.25 each. That is the cost per lesson at each rate. How often would you use it?
That makes the service easier to justify for a household that plans to return each week. A family that wants a few rainy-day videos has a harder case for an annual fee.
Where it may fall short
Video can make an idea feel clear before a child can use it. A child may enjoy the lesson and still need help explaining the key point. That is why I would not use watch time as a measure of progress.
There is also the cost of overlap. If you already have a course with strong teaching, questions, and hands-on work, you may be paying twice for the same role.
Parents in homeschool groups ask about price changes. They also want to know if it can work on its own. Those are sensible questions. I would use it to add to a plan I already have. Both the price and the stated role point that way.

Choose one sample lesson and use each step. See what your child can explain the next day. That will tell you more than the number of topics on the site.
